Unfortunately this venue is unsuitable for wheelchair access but the Writing shed can be viewed from the pathway.

The venue needs advance notice of large party visits.
There is a tea room on site that serves refreshments and home baking.

Welcome to The Dylan Thomas Boathouse website.

This website is brought to you by Carmarthenshire County Council and serves a number of activities.

  • The site is primarily the promotional website for the Dylan Thomas Boathouse at Laugharne, providing tourist information and news, plus a calendar of forthcoming associated local events.

  • The website is also a cultural heritage and educational learning resource.

  • In the section The Boathouse there is a history of the boathouse, Dylan Thomas’ writing shed, plus a VIRTUAL TOUR of the boathouse, an interactive Flash Animation which recreates the interior of the Boathouse as it would have been when Dylan Thomas and his family lived there between 1949 and 1953.

  • In the Education section there are Key Stages 3 & 4 Teachers’ Packs, plus sections on the literary context of Dylan Thomas with a comprehensive bibliography and timeline.
  • The site also features a Children’s Activities area, information about Dylan Thomas, his life at the boathouse in Carmarthenshire and his poetry and prose.
