Bibliography

The following bibliography has been compiled by Dr John Goodby, UCW Swansea. The bibliography is particularly specific in that it does not list reams of books related to Thomas which have been published, but in the consideration of John Goodby it is his summation of the key books for core further advanced academic study. It also lists the publication history of Thomas’ works prior and subsequently after his death.

For readers wishing to find the definitive bibliography please see J. Alexander Rolph’s A Bibliography, which is the standard, although new researches are revealing hitherto unknown texts by Thomas and a revision since Rolph’s 1956 edition, can be made with Professor Ralph Maud’s A Bibliographic History.

At the end of the bibliography there is a General context, literary history and critical theory (edited selection) , in which are listed texts not about Thomas, but the literary context in which Thomas can be read and primers toward the way Thomas can be reassessed. New readership of Dylan Thomas is now emerging within the context of literary theory beyond the raft of subjective critical analysis up to the 1970’s.
